PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide)

PPS is a strong and rigid material with excellent chemical resistance even at elevated temperatures. PPS has extremely low moisture absorption and very good thermal stability. It has excellent resistance to steam, and very good Dielectric properties.

PPS shapes can be produced by utilizing Extrusion, Injection Molding, or Compression Molding methods. PPS can also be filled with a variety of materials to enhance its performance.

What are the benefits of PPS?
  • High Strength and Rigidity
  • Outstanding Chemical Resistance
  • Good performance in Steam
  • Very good Wear Resistance in enhanced grades
  • Nearly zero Moisture Absorption
  • High Electrical properties
  • FDA, USDA, 3A Dairy Compliant (Unfilled Grade)
What are the Typical Applications of PPS

Pump Bodies Manifolds

Thrust Washers Lantern Rings

Valve Components Rotors

Retaining Rings Labyrinth Seals

Bushings Gears

Impellers Clamps

Test Fixtures Spacers

Insulators Housings

Common Formulations of PPS:

(Extruded) Unfilled- Chemical resistance with High Purity

(Extruded) Bearing Grade (Techtron® HPV) – Solid Fiber Lubricated, Enhanced PV and Wear Capabilities

(Compression Molded) Unfilled- Chemical Resistance, Strength and Rigidity in larger shapes

(Compression Molded) Glass Filled Ryton® 30% Glass Fiber Reinforced-Higher Strength and Rigidity in larger shapes

(Compression Molded) Bearing Grade Ryton® – 10% Carbon, 10% Graphite, 10% PTFE Reinforced-Better wear in larger shapes
